93 Points

Sunday, August 4, 2013 - From a bottle purchased on release, this wine had a deep red/purple center with oranging rims. The medium+ intensity nose offerred black cherries, brown spices, clay soil, and blackberries.

In the mouth, this was ripe and rich with lovely balance and impressive length. It had light rounded tannin and nice acidity. However, the overall impression here was of sappy ripe, but still classy fruit.

This will easily last 10-20 years and might even get a bit better. Fortunately, there was no hint of the excess char note I had last bottle. A lovely wine that scored 93 points after 2-3 hours in the decanter and I thought it was done. It firmed up and got better in hour 4 which suggests to me it may even pick up a point in the future.
