95 Points

Saturday, April 11, 2015 - This wine SHOULD have been scored 100. However, my friend who brought the wine does not believe in opening early or decanting. Pop and pour is his middle name. It doesn't matter how precious the wine and vintage.

So, having stated such I can't imagine what it would have been had it had a couple of hours opened or decanted. Cork firm and color as the day it was made. Initial aromatics muted but within 20 minutes the wine was singing with aromas and began to open on the palate. Someone said awed by the wine and I agree. I classic Rotie and one for wine of the Rotie from that year. So complex and elegant yet backward and strong. Extremely well balanced. Then tender and light. Just an amazing cacophony of delightful nuances. A truly great wine with time left in the bottle but ready to drink now. Someone PLEASE tell me where to get more.
