81 Points

Saturday, February 21, 2015 - Initial complexity on the nose with pencil shavings, burnt chocolate and licorice. Similar notes on the palate. After a couple hours in the decanter the wine seems to be completely falling apart. The sugar, acidity, tannins and alcohol are completely out of balance and very awkward. Over the next two days in the decanter it takes on far more subtle fruit and floral notes. The acidity is still making itself known and the tannins are grainy, but overall the balance is much better. It has become far less interesting but much more pleasant.
