Thursday, April 22, 2021 - My 4th bottle in several years. This vintage continues to stand out and impress, with 10 plus years of age it still shows structure and youth which is an encouraging sign. The nose is where this wine shows it complexity. Mountain berry, black and blue fruit and evergreen forest dominate, followed by more nuanced dusty soil, cedar, purple flowers, and lush berry jam. Very well integrated. Palate is lush and full bodied, still showing some tightness. Heavy on the oak and toast notes, with concentrated berry compote, some leather and cedar, pipe tobacco and vanilla. Powerful and complex, with good length. Will wait another couple years before revisiting.
