Friday, September 21, 2012 - Opened and poured, this wine gave an outstanding showing for its youthful, primary fruit. At this stage the wine seems somewhat one dimensional on the bouquet and palate; however there is sufficient underlying structure, acidity and tannins to balance the youthful fruit. The bouquet offers primary red and black fruits mixed with subtle spicy stem and stone notes. The medium bodied palate shows accessible fruit that will require a couple of years of additional bottle age to fully integrate with the underlying structure. This bottle seems somewhat like a barrel sample and based on this showing the wine will benefit an additional two to three years of bottle age.
