Alluring nose of spice and leather, which carry over to the palate, which shows gentle cherry and strawberry, somewhat mulled fruit, along with leather, sandalwood and light spice. The oak is an interesting component, but is far from dominant. The tannin is folded into the palate. I enjoyed this over four or five hours, and I noted a drop in palate intensity by the end, suggesting that this wine is perhaps not destined for much longer cellaring. But, after years of indifference to Rioja, this was just lovely.
