Saturday, January 3, 2015 - Like other Belle Glos pinots, this is a PN for folks who prefer big California cabs to lighter bodied pinot noirs (not that there is anything wrong with that). Unlike most pinots, it is dark purple in the glass and looks more like a syrah or cab than a thin skinned pinot. Same with the nose: it has a distinct cherry nose but a black fruit, syrah nose. A bit jammy with heavy oak. While it is not a pure expression of PN and not my style, it is a good modern wine with wide appeal, and appreciated by all who tasted it.
