Tuesday, October 4, 2022 - first of 5 bottles from auction.
base neck fill level. Cork in terrible condition with half crumbled.
Came out though; only with Durand...
Remarkably pale hue; similar to old Barolo or very old Burgundy.
Beautiful nose with great complexity: earthy, spicy, mineral, still a sweetness from plummy fruit remnant.
soft tannins but still firm structure underneath. This must have been ferocious early on. Long, lingering finish on iron , spicy and mineral notes.
This clearly peaked years ago, but still so enjoyable...
I suspect very traditional winemaking with stems and long cuvaison.
A treat.
