Wednesday, June 3, 2009 - HMK-10. Golden yellow color of medium depth, medium size bubbles. Initial nose pleasant with pear, golden apple, and some yeasty bread. After 1.5 hrs the nose was more toward sweat than anything - even with a fresh pour. On the palate baked pear, rich nuts, and toast, showing some interesting characteristics of a blend. Acidity medium-minus, finish medium-plus with aforementioned fruits and nuts. If there is such a thing as a more savory sparkling wine, this is it. Delicious and easily drinkable for its flavors, but less attractive if you're looking for higher acid and brighter fruit. Excellent value at under 19. I would buy again if the occasion or food pairing was right.
