Tuesday, October 12, 2010 - Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Vertical Dinner (The Marine Room, La Jolla, California): Medium-to-deep red/garnet robe with garnet rim. Clean, very intense bouquet of black and red cherries, minerals, leather and lavender. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity and medium residual tannins which are well-integrated. The flavors are luscious and still fruit-dominated, carrying through the middle palate to a long, smooth finish. This is the classic-quality Pichon-Lalande. Very elegant and very much a crowd-pleaser. It has enough structure for at least another decade of hedonism. Drink now-12/20.
