Saturday, October 18, 2003 - Dinner at Lampreia with Dhiren & Helen. A gorgeous nose of tobacco, cedar, and mushroom. Very black and brooding. On the palate this was initially somewhat thin, and I feared that I overdecanted this. However, with time and the right food (a course with Porcini prepared three ways and then rack of lamb for an entree) this filled out incredibly. Black, earthy, and amazingly silky. This is a gorgeous example of Pauillac. The finish is subtle, silky, medium in length. This particular bottle has probably seen better days (of 6 bottles purchased recently this was the one with the lowest fill, just above base neck), but it was charming and highly enjoyable nonetheless.
