Friday, April 5, 2013 - Very dark almost purple colour with minimal bricking at edges, this was initially very closed on the nose but opened up nicely after 30-45 minutes of aeration to reveal bitter sweet dark cherry, plum, red liquorice and a faint smoky character. Medium to full bodied, firm but soft tannins and a lush mouthfeel with decent acidity and length. Very enjoyable now with food but I'd wait a couple more years to completely smooth this out personally; the fruit is still very bright and will hold up. Better than expected frankly.
