Monday, March 31, 2014 - The easiest thing to say about this is that it's "like" a sancerre, and that's quite true (this producer does make an excellent one), but also misses the point, because in addition to minerality that's a trademark of that appellation, the Menetau-Salon offers some lovely musk base notes lifted by the scent of fresh rain. Enough acidity for heavy foods, but a slightly oily mouthfeel gives it grip and leads to a finish of cantaloupe and buckwheat honey. This is absolutely beautiful stuff, at the perfect age, but still has another few years left as well.
