Saturday, May 14, 2022 - The '70 Mascarello is in a perfect spot for drinking today, and is a textbook example of an aged, classic Nebbiolo. It has all the elegance, perfume, and sweetness that I've come to expect from aged Mascarello.

The nose was intensely perfumed with sweet red strawberry and red cherry fruit, smoked meats, mint, earth, roses, orange peel, and a hint of barnyard. On the palate, the wine was extremely elegant and silky, while retaining concentration of fruit. I found smokey meats, sweet cherry fruit, red floral tones, mint, and earth, and a high level of acidity and sweetness.
