Sunday, January 1, 2023 - I think it is unfair to assign a points scheme to this wine. This was most certainly an experience I won't soon forget. Not too much experience with uber-mature Champagne, but here goes. Deep golden hues & still brilliant in color. Reductive and cooped up on the nose. After that blew off, the wine really stated to blossom. Very little to minimal mousse on the pour, and then none in the glass. Only a slight effervescence on the palate. Nose: candied pear, subtle honey, orange liqueur, dried jasmine, green tea, dried nectarine. Palate confirms the nose. Vibrant acidity and lift. Medium body +, finishing dry and long length. A special Champagne now turned mostly back into white wine. Disgorged Nov. 1988.
