Wednesday, June 29, 2016 - Well, it looks like this one is finally starting to put itself in the "winner" camp. It only took almost four years in bottle to finally settle down and flesh out. Really dark syrah fruit still dominates, and the tannins are very supportive of the fruit, but as the grip loosens the midpalate shows great blackberry flavor with some crushed rock and white pepper undertones. Yes, it's still a brute but it's becoming a lovable pit bull of a wine. The finish was really awesome, with a nice long forest and berry bush ride to the end. Still would continue to hold it a wee bit longer, but it definitely has 10+ years to go, and I think that Mike might have a real winner with this one.
