But, I was left a bit disappointed. Not that it wasn't a nice wine, but I've come to expect Mike Officer's wines to be such overachievers, and this merely delivered on its price point. A little more thin and less aromatic than other syrahs, and it lacked a sense of place and varietal character. None of the bacon fat, meatiness, minerality, or pepperiness I enjoy in my Cali syrahs.
