Tuesday, October 9, 2018 - Purple color with pale pink rim. The nose was not terribly complex with plummy fruit, floral notes, and light pepper. On the palate, this is packed with plum, cherry, chocolate, olive, and pepper on the finish. Surprisingly, this was medium-bodied with good acidity and a plush mouthfeel. Overall, I liked this wine’s medium weight and its mouthfeel, and while it wasn’t terribly complex, it paired beautifully with pepposo, which is chunks of peppered top sirloin cooked in a chianti and tomato sauce. The wine’s peppery profile matched the meat, and since the stew was served over mashed potatoes, the mouthfeel was perfect.
