90 Points

Sunday, August 24, 2014 - I do not have any experience with Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise, and my primary points of reference for a wine such as this are Sauternes and the sweet white wines of the Loire. This wine was sweeter than most of the former and all of the latter (at least in my experience). Moreover, it does not bear much of a resemblance to the Aussie (and other) Muscats I have had, which have tended to be darker and richer. Okay, enough of what it isn't.

Orange peel, apricot, “sprite” lemon-lime!, nice clove touch; dark honey? Nice mth feel, a bit of alc. in the back for sure. Definitely notice the fortified aspect. Interesting, but not sure its my cup of tea. Will reevaluate after a couple more days.
