Monday, July 15, 2013 - I've read that this bottle is in a perfect spot, so I did my best to temper expectations. Astonishing experience overall. The top of the cork had mold and the area under the capsule looked worse for the wear, but the contents were something to behold. I'm writing this note after trying the 2004 a few days later and I absolutely loved the comparison. There were hardly any tertiary notes present in the 1984, which I find so hard to believe considering it's my birth year. Not a wrinkle in it's delivery which I cannot say for my own appearance. This could without a doubt last many many more years and I will be on the lookout for more to sample when I turn 35 and 40.

The oak is reminiscent of a mid-term barbaresco, somewhat cheesy and funky, while the fruit tastes as fresh as the newer montebellos but backed with less acid and tannic punch. I'd say you need to try it to understand it, but I don't want any competition to find the remaining bottles on the market!
