Friday, May 30, 2008 - The Wine Summit at The Post Hotel in Lake Louise Alberta Canada was fortunate to have Mr. Paul Draper as one of the presenters. After taking us all down a brief but interesting trip down memory lane, Mr Draper lead us trough a technical tasting of 8 Monte Bellos covering a range or 23 years. All good things must come to an end and this 84 was our last MB of the morning. Not as dark purple as many of the glass but darker than the 88. Not a lot of big aroma jumping out of this and it had been open and decanted for about two and half hours. There was the ever present licorice and some non citrus fruit smells. The taste brought the fruit out front with a luscious texture and proper acidity. I did not pick up on the currant and blackberry that Paul was mentioning, but I really tried and tried until the three fingers of wine was gone.
