Tuesday, November 28, 2023 - A promising slightly leesy nose opens with a symphony of complex aromas including lemon zest, olive oil, Emmental cheese, nutmeg, almond, jasmine, and kiwi. The palate continues to impress, with a zingy citrus backbone braced by more kiwi, fresh pineapple, a bit of smoke, some chalk and flint, hazelnut, and capers. There is a lot going on with this Champer, with an inherent complexity that is somewhat reticent at first, but which benefits from a little focus. It all wraps up with crisp lemon zest on the crescendo and some not unpleasant astringency on the steely finish. (Very good QPR, which is reflected in review score.)
