Saturday, December 27, 2014 - France makes a ton of really good, affordable Rhone blends (GSM's =Grenache /Syrah/Mouvedre), vinifying in concrete tanks, but seeing no oak. This is a great example. The stars are the fruit...black and red cherry, herbaceous, but slightly restrained with a feeling of silky elegance. Medium-bodied, acidic enough to pair nicely with a variety of food. 85% Grenache/15% Syrah. Drinkable now, smoking deal- $10.99 at Costco and probably not much more elsewhere. Michael Gassier paired with Eric Solomon on this one, fyi.
