Monday, October 19, 2015 - More than 11 days later, Coravin is offering us the opportunity to sip this Chardonnay which is, arguably, the best in Italy and - to us - ranks with the wonders from France and California. We restate our note from that day as, well, Coravin has ensured this sip as good as the last one! Named for Angelo Gaja's oldest daughter, Gaia Gaja, and his grandmother, Clotilde Rey. We like that sort of respect. Beautiful, dark yellow on the eye speaks to the strength we know will be awaiting. Aromas of sophisticated oak, citrus and vanilla wafting slowly around our bewitched nose. A luscious, salaciously structured (think Kate Upton) wine forcing you to come back for more with honey, oak, citrus and some spice. Perfect balance with a long, elegant finish. A touch young (barely legal), but still sophisticated sexiness at her best...only will get better!
