Saturday, December 21, 2013 - Wow.....a pretty amazing wine. Deep ruby color. Pronounced nose of jammy boysenberry, plum, baking spice, leather, tobacco. Darker fruit on the palate along with the spice and oak. Everything about this is smoooooth. Very full bodied, with nice acidity and very silky tannins. Very long luscious finish. Wonderful balance. I see why this was Wine Spectator's wine of the year for 2005. Update Dec 25 - decanted for 3 hours - which was two hours more than I should have. This is so smooth already, that too much air makes it a tad flabby. PNP is just fine for this.
