Tuesday, February 24, 2015 - Dark red-purple. Reduced — i.e. aromas of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) — unexpected since this is a wine that is over 3 years old. I would suspect that it was fermented in stainless steel tanks, stabilized and bottled without any barrel aging. While this treatment works well with some grapes, malbec, because of its intensity, needs oxygen during its production cycle. Recommended serving: Open 2 hours in advance and/or aerate thoroughly prior to pouring.
