Likes this wine:

Monday, November 25, 2013 - Dinner at Simon's and Kevin's (TriBeCa): Opaque coffee black (and a very little brown at the rim). Nose is chockablock with fig, prune, balsamic, and coffee. Palate is much the same, but with huge, almost overwhelming molasses; massively rich and viscous, like motor oil. Then it has terrific citric acid-mandarin-skin oil-like lift to the essentially eternal finish. This wine will live forever. (It is great wine and, while I appreciated it, I found it a little too much of everything at this point in its youth -- I preferred a '64 Eszencia we had a year or so earlier. That said, I was in the definite minority on this point, and I'm pretty sure this was one of the wines of the year for everyone else there.)
