Sunday, December 2, 2012 - P&P, but develops under oxygen. tasted after 1 hr. eye: this is bright ruby, translucent with 2mm fading. nose: cooked red fruit (red currant, cranberry, hint of strawberry), underbrush, palate: very smooth, appealing and playful but with substance, mid body, fruity sweetness, the acids are vivid and refreshing. tannins fine and detectable during finish. these will grant another 5 years+, 15 Caudalie, semi-stable, with a hint of butter. this is expected to improve over the next 2 years. a very good effort from the Kaiserstuhl. this is not a Burgundy, and it doesn't try to be one, but the winemaking reminds me of Burgundy regardless of the (detectable) terroir. it is an alternative to Volnay or Chambolle Village level. well done!
