Saturday, June 9, 2018 - Very enjoyable. This wine displayed a nice, slightly oxidized color with medium bricking but the nose was still super complex, even after a decent decant. Comes at you with earthy notes of underbrush, cedar, charcoal and a nice core of black currant. The weight of the wine was impressive as well, not losing a beat throughout the evening. Finishes with some still present earthiness but the merlot has mellowed into some honey-tinged fruit with a bit of smoke, a terrific combination. Very well balanced at this point, I think it's at peak right now and perhaps for another three to five years. An incredibly consistent producer for fans of the right bank who appreciate (relative) value.
