Friday, November 22, 2019 - You can safely ignore Cellar Tracker's End Drinking Date of 2022. Well stored bottles should have at least a decade of continued excellent drinking. Still a little bit of tannic oomph, but at a wonderful place, particularly if decanted over, or maybe an hour prior to, dinner. I could sit for an hour and just deeply inhale the wonderful aromas without even tasting a drop. But why? The run of great Bordeaux "vintages of the century" of late ('05, '09, '10, '15, '16) will leave some forgetting just how monumental the 2000 vintage was across the board. The Right Bank wines seem to have started hitting a sweet spot, as should many of the Left Bank over the next 5 or so years.

11/23/2019 10:23:00 PM - Had this one a few weeks ago with a friend (also in DC) and completely concur that this wine is a knockout. Just gorgeous. It's the best Canon La Gaffeliere I've ever had and I've had several bottles of the 2005 and 2009. The difference between 2000 and other "vintages of the century" like 05/09 is that 2000 is a lot more light on its feet, it has the fruit depth but also the acidity to carry it.
