Wednesday, May 11, 2016 - This was a friend's bottle that was not carefully cellared. It endured dry heat in a garage in Silicon Valley California with significant temperature and humidity variations. I'm told temperatures at times approached 90 degrees. I was therefore expecting the worse, possibly even vinegar. On opening the cork disintegrated, but had a nice smell to it. Decanted, but tasted immediately. Vanilla nose, cherry cola and silky smooth on the palate.Tannins fully rounded out. Very impressed that it endured such harsh treatment! Over two hours it continued to evolve with a subtle anise backnote but primarily a creamy vanilla oak.
