Monday, February 1, 2016 - Tasted the 2009 and 2011(Cote de Bouguerots) together and both are delightful tonight. The 09 is richer with more punch to the penetrating flavors of cool green fruit, some tropical and melon notes, floral hints, lots of firm minerality and brisk acidity at its core and a long, lingering finish. The 2011 on the other hand, while very similar, is leaner, more delineated and perhaps more delicate or nuanced. I think that both are excellent Chablis that are drinking beautifully, but I also think that the 2011 needs another couple of years of bottle age. That being said, I'm still faced with the dilemma of drinking these wines young or waiting and risking premox. This weekend I had to spill 3 bottles of another producer's 09 Meursault that was premoxed, which I had tasted about 6 months to a year before and was drinking beautifully then.
