Tuesday, September 17, 2013 - See last notes in 2/13. Pretty consistent. "Best intentions" and so forth: I'm gonna try to wait on next bottle. Why? This is a tasty and elegant wine. Bouquet is what I guess could be called relatively big Cali pinot, but not huge. Enough forest floor that there's a lot going on, but no excessive herbal funk. It tasted good through an aerator, then within app. 30-45 minutes, just sipping from big glasses, you really started to taste the red fruit, the baking spices, and a touch of sweetness. Also, the mid- to back- taste flowered, and it really started to linger and extend. Had about one-third of the bottle left the next day. When we drank it, the fruitiness and tannins were in proper proportion, and it was just a joy to drink (by itself and with PW's chilli). For the next bottle we open, if we get the same initial reaction, then I'm going to decant it for 2-3 hours, or just replace the cork and wait until 1-2 days later. Interested to see how the 2011 tastes.
