Friday, January 2, 2015 - Seriously doubt I would have rated this a 89 one year ago or two years ago. A bit of aging has done this wine wonders (it has seen oak). It's a little darker than some, reflecting that it is more medium-bodied with a good deal of finesse--not a lighter style--with red cherry and earthen notes. Very fun wine to drink NOW, but enough balance to pair with a variety of foods. This Rodney Strong Pinot from RRV is always a good performer for the price, but it needs three years from vintage year to get to the sweet spot...no long-term aging potential seen...
