85 Points

Saturday, May 5, 2012 - The color was dark red. There was no bouquet. When first opened the wine was unbalanced with significant oaky overtones, that I found unusual for this type of wine. I recently drank a bottle of the 2009 and in comparison the 2009 was fruiter with a nicer tanin base. As often happens, the 2003 was drunk over two nights, after being stored under vacuum. The second night the 2003 was softer and had better balance, it tasted like a typical Left Bank Bordeaux. Verdict -- if the bottle I drank was typical, the 2003 would benefit from decanting and some air exposure before drinking.
