90 Points

Friday, April 27, 2012 - Ah, Burgundy the fickle wine. I had attended a very nice tasting this past Wednesday at a local wine shop where the focused on 4 burgundies from the same producer(Ambroise) from Borguone thru Grand Cru. The 1er Cru and particularly the Grand Cru where spectacular. It whetted my appetite for a premier cru for this weekend.
So this Friday, which is Pinot night in our house, I decided to open the "baby Jesus" as the 10 year mark seemed just right. I opened and poured a couple of small pours in our glasses and we walked the dogs while letting the wine open. On the nose it had that initial Burgundy funk, which was promising. The color was that translucent crimson associated with Pinot. Good fruit and balance on the palate but the finish lacked that length that would have scored this higher.
