Community Tasting Note

Thursday, September 7, 2017 - Second WOTN during the dinner program, but to me the clear winner served with a grilled lamb and a cannoli of grilled veggies. A real delight. Bright, vibrant red fruit, lots of life and energy with perfect acidity and a very decent finish. Drinking extremely well right now or can be held for a few decades. but why wait?

6/25/2018 8:23:00 PM - I share your enthusiasm about this wine, and I also agree that Branaire gets overlooked. It (in my experience) doesn’t always deliver but when it does, as in 2009, it hits a bullseye and is an unbelievably great value. I’ll defer to you on longevity, but I personally don’t try to age Branaire that much. The 2009 reminds me of the 1989: an absolute delight in its youth, but it didn’t have the stuffing to last, and started to fall apart early. My guess is the 2009 has a longer life ahead of it but I don’t know how long

6/26/2018 4:59:00 AM - Thanks for the comment JJ....I know I should let all my BDX age a lot longer than I do, but I can't help myself! I've had good luck going back to the '99 and '00 in the past year. Have never has an older Branaire than that. Just pleasantly amazed at how it gets overlooked so easily amongst the BDX crowd. I guess for many BDX 'snobs' this wine is just too beneath them. Enjoy! Mark
