Monday, September 9, 2013 - Purple inky colour, light only seen through it at the rim of the glass. Fruit and oak dominate nose. Smooth, tannic mouthfeel.
Dense fruit flavours, almost new world level of fruit extraction, prunes might be closest. Vanilla and oak, some smokiness, not excessive. All well integrated, no unusual flavours, but not very sustained after drinking. Highly drinkable on its own, good with meat and very good with chocolate.
Quite like a port, not complex, great QPR at €9.95. 14.5%abv.
