90 Points

Wednesday, June 27, 2018 - Dinner at Margeaux Brasserie (Chicago, IL): This is in an intermediate phase right now, where this is mostly primary, but where you also know that those primary characteristics are starting to taper off. The black fruit here is classic Cornas, and there's a green spiciness to this that's actually a little different from the other Clapes I've had. The palate is nice and rich with black fruit, and again that green spice. It's clearly not yet ready on the palate, with a pretty tight tannic structure still. I think rule of 15 is pretty reasonable for this wine.
