1989 Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Community Tasting Note

87 Points

Saturday, July 13, 2013 - Fairly Merlot color. Smell of light cedar, cabernet sauvignon nose with lots of sweetness. Opened and kept in the bottle for 2hours, it became more approachable. But performance of the sample is surely not a 89 La Mission should give. It only showed a medium body with touch of acidic mid palate, finish was short and shallow. It didn't keep up for another 1.5hours.

8/25/2013 7:20:00 AM - Just had a remarkably similar experience and literally wondered if I'm drinking the authentic wine. Would be very interested in comparing notes. My bottle has Seagram Chateau and Estate as the importer and a 750 ML designation on the far side. foil is golden. A bottle I acquired elsewhere has a 75 cl designation on the far side and is from a DC importer. It tasted far more like the reviews suggest it should.
