Friday, May 8, 2015 - Light ruby with tawny rim. Like soil encrusted black cherries on the nose. Medium weight, great sap. Medicinal quality to the fruit, some anise, and serious but unobtrusive tannins. No Savigny brambliness in this bottle, but the quality and value here speak to why top notch Savigny is highly sought after as a bargain Burgundy. After my disastrous experience with the older, dried out Bize wines at La Paulee, this bottle made me think that this domain really benefits from the flesh that a riper vintage provides.
