Monday, January 28, 2013 - Pale but the color deepened in the glass. Black fruits and anise at first. Lean, cool and linear to start with strong but not strident acidity. Marvelous development in the glass-it fleshes out, some sweeter dark red fruit is layered on, and a brothy/mushroomy essence becomes evident. All the while, crisp and beautifully focused. I have not had many 2001s recently, but my goodness, this bottling has come along exceptionally well. It is at a point of early maturity and should improve for at least another 3 or 4 years.
