Saturday, January 23, 2016 - Red berries, floral and earth on the nose. Medium bodied, beautifully smooth and with excellent concentration - very impressive for 12.8% ABV. Expressive red cherry and wildberry upfront, backed with more tart red cherry and cranberry notes behind. This bottle seemed more defined and showed more complexity through the middle than my prior bottle (Nov 2015). Finish was beautiful with a combination of minerals and acidity. I think two changes made the difference with this bottle. (1) No decant this time versus 90 minutes last time - the wine doesn't need it. (2) Served at cellar temperature (55F) rather than room temperature and I think the wine showed considerably better for it in terms of flavor definition, richness and acidity as well as overall integration. Overall, an extremely impressive and enjoyable bottle.
