Friday, December 11, 2015 - This is one of the best non-Piedmont Nebbiolos that Imhave tasted. Granted, there is much competition; Nebbiolo is probably the major wine grape that travels the poorest, but here is one that I would not hesitate to put against a good Barolo or -- more to the point -- Barbaresco. Like the latter it has a somewhat ethereal bouquet of crushed rose petals with just a hint of the darker tar notes. The wine is medium-dark (no one should expect inky black even from the most robust Barolo) and medium bodied.
On the palate it is quite smooth, with most of the tannins smooth and largely evolved. Gorgeous dark fruit and now quite tarry favors with a great finish. Lacks a bit of complexity, Baku all of a piece. At its plateau now; drink over next 2-3 years.
