Wednesday, January 1, 2020 - NYEtoNY session at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart, and then Grassl Cru on day 2.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of sour plum, pomegranate, dank green undergrowth, soy sauce (that strangely disappeared with more air on day 2!). Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour plum, dark red cherries, brambles, dark earth. A bit more honeyed sweet red fruit elements on day 2 after lots more air. Medium+ to long finish with sour plum and sour cherry.
A real strange wine. Who knows how this could develop? Almost written it off when first tasted, but it seems to have made a bit of a comeback on day 2.
