Monday, January 19, 2015 - Purple-ruby in the glass. A candied fruit nose, not unlike Gamay, although I know this to be Syrah and Grenache. Nose is very one dimensional and a bit closed. Strong notes of white pepper, cranberries, black cherries, and wet forest floor. This is heavily extracted and not a delicate charmer, more of a wine with elbows getting your attention. The tannins are toothy but under control. Alcohol is totally tame. Lots of life left on this IGP and at $14 this is a steal. 70% Syrah 30% Grenache.
