92 Points

Saturday, October 6, 2018 - Tartrate crystals on the cork. An impressively spacey quince on both nose and palate, unripe honey dew melon, a tiny amount of lactic notes and also some herbal notes or hay, hardly any diesel. Very fruity, but dry and mineral, great purity and balance ! Full bodied and probably long lived - I killed a baby. I think one notch better due to the Lage-specificity than the general Kallstadter Riesling Kabinett, and this logically forces a 92, but if herbal notes in a Riesling put you off, that one would probably suit you better. I should add a note of caution: Koehler-Ruprecht overall really seems to hit my soft spot, so this rating includes 1 – 2 points for personal enthusiasm.
