Friday, May 27, 2016 - This was on sale in last September's Foires aux Vins, for around 12€ I think. I bought one out of curiosity, which turned out to be a good choice. Instead of the washed-out weed I was half-expecting, Verdignan 01 is still youthful and vibrant. Very suave and classy, the attack is at first quite light, with soft wild strawberry I'd noticed on the nose, blending into a creamy middle section of blackberry and redcurrant, rising to a crescendo of dusty, persistent fruit, before a long and pesistent finish. I would have guessed Margaux if I'd tasted it blind and compared to the Malescot 01 I had last week - well, there is no comparison, this is a great deal better. Incredible value for the quality.
