Sunday, October 4, 2015 - Right out of the bottle this is excellent, but clearly will improve with time or a few hours in a decanter. The first thing I noticed was the color -- this is about as dark as wine gets! The concentration and fruit here are exceptional, this is an incredibly rich and silky fruit driven wine. I didn't care much for the 2012 Caymus because I found it to be a bit over the top and candy-like. The '12 special selection has more backbone and balance that makes it far more enjoyable and elegant in my opinion. Still, if you like a classic style wine you may not care for this as it's still a fruit bomb at heart. I think it's great though!
