This is a perfectly fine bottle of wine, but, wow, what a tough year for Lapierre and beaujolais generally. This had a brooding quality that I would never associate with Lapierre in better years. A very pronounced green streak is present on the palate. That's all fine and good in a cab franc, but here I feel like it masked a lot of of the brighter notes that I have come to expect from Lapierre. None of the baking spices, orange peel, pine, or any of that good stuff. Blind I would have guessed Loire for sure, and not a great one at that. There is still evidence of solid wine making in this, but overall not much of a success. The ultimate proof is that it's the first time I've ever had any leftovers on a bottle of Lapierre. Not much better the next day either. Bring on the '14s!
